This dark and candid ghost cycle offers a chronology of fifteen one-act plays of the lives of women in historical southern New Mexico, under the direction of award-winning poet and dramatist Victoria Tester. Fifteen ghost plays move from the 1500's through old Apacheria, New Spain, Mexico and New Mexico Territory, until they culminate in 1913, the year following New Mexico's statehood. The cycle offers haunting portraits of thirty women of southern New Mexico, as they struggle to win joy on their journeys through captivity, rape, war, exile, disease, racism, loneliness, poverty, alcoholism, insanity, Indian boarding school and escape.

About Return, 1913
Alyssia Goss plays Girl, a Chiricahua Apache who struggles to record the truth of her people's journey, in spite of her strict Indian boarding school teacher.
Karen Rossman plays Old Lady, the fierce ghost of a story-telling Chiricahua Apache grandmother who comes to the aid of her granddaughter.
Eileen Sullivan will perform on fiddle.

The NM Ghost Play Cycle Staged Reading Series at the Silver City Museum Annex will run through October 2012, in honor of the New Mexico State Centennial.
